Compensation: Base Salary – USD $90,000 to $130,000 (final salary to be discussed with the recruiter)
An established engineering firm is seeking an experienced Department Head – Electrical to lead and oversee electrical design projects. This leadership role will collaborate closely with project managers and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the successful design, coordination, and implementation of electrical systems across diverse building projects.
The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with strong technical depth, proven project management capabilities, and a passion for mentoring junior engineers while upholding the highest standards of design quality and client service.
Guide and mentor electrical design staff to strengthen technical and project management skills.
Collaborate with leadership to assign staff, balance workloads, and oversee performance.
Review and approve all electrical project deliverables for quality assurance.
Support employee growth through coaching, training, and annual evaluations.
Participate in client presentations, interviews, and technical discussions as a subject matter expert.
Direct and design building electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, data/telecommunications, and fire alarm systems.
Perform lighting calculations, circuit design, and layout of electrical switchgear and panels.
Ensure all designs meet applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
Conduct system evaluations and feasibility studies to improve design efficiency.
Coordinate electrical design efforts from concept through construction alongside multidisciplinary teams.
Track project budgets, schedules, and deliverables to meet financial and operational goals.
Develop proposals, scopes, and fee structures in partnership with management.
Serve as the primary client liaison for electrical design matters.
Identify new business opportunities and service enhancements.
Foster and maintain strong client and industry relationships to support continued growth.
Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
10–15 years of progressive experience in electrical design, project engineering, or project management.
Proficiency in electrical design software such as Visual, ElumTools, and Microsoft Office.
Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit is preferred.
Comprehensive understanding of electrical codes, standards, and best practices.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Required:
