Network Engineer II
Location: Fairbanks, AK or Anchorage, AK

Position Overview
We are seeking a Network Engineer II to join our technical team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in routing, switching, and network troubleshooting, with the ability to design, implement, and maintain scalable network solutions. This role requires hands-on experience with advanced networking technologies and a proactive approach to optimizing performance across critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues using a deep understanding of the OSI model.
  • Configure, monitor, and maintain routing and switching protocols, including OSPF, BGP, VLANs, Spanning Tree Protocol, VRF-Lite, and IPv4 subnetting.
  • Deploy and manage equipment with Ubiquiti EdgeOS and MikroTik RouterOS.
  • Perform packet capture and analysis with tools such as WireShark.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to implement and document network designs and configurations.
  • Support ongoing efforts to scale and optimize broadband network infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of the OSI model and its application to troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with OSPF, BGP, VLANs, Spanning Tree Protocol, VRF-Lite, and IPv4 subnetting.
  • Proficiency with Ubiquiti EdgeOS and/or MikroTik RouterOS.
  • Skilled with WireShark or equivalent packet capture analysis tools.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
  • Familiarity with network and systems monitoring platforms such as LibreNMS, Grafana, or Observium.
  • Experience with NetBox for network documentation.
  • DNS management knowledge.
  • Exposure to network automation tools (e.g., Ansible).
  • Experience with indoor/outdoor RF deployments, including Point-to-Point and Point-to-Multipoint radio solutions.
  • Familiarity with TowerCoverage.com.
  • Knowledge of the TNSR routing platform.
