Job Description: Zoning Manager

Position: Zoning/Permitting Manager (Remote)

Overview

A growing company in the site development industry is seeking a Zoning/Permitting Manager to oversee all activities required to obtain zoning and permitting approvals for client projects. This role involves developing and implementing effective strategies to ensure timely completion of zoning and permitting milestones.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and prepare zoning analyses for various jurisdictions
  • Coordinate with internal teams to gather site information and communicate requirements
  • Prepare necessary zoning documentation for project packets
  • Review and verify compliance of construction drawings with applicable zoning codes
  • Establish communication with jurisdictional staff to facilitate permitting processes
  • Research and communicate submittal requirements to clients and internal teams
  • Coordinate with property owners to complete required documentation
  • Prepare, compile, and submit complete zoning applications
  • Present written and oral reports to public officials
  • Represent clients at hearings and public meetings
  • Maintain accurate project status tracking and reporting
  • Identify new revenue opportunities through understanding client needs
  • Build strong client relationships through proactive communication
  • Mentor and train specialists on zoning and permitting processes
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners for required deliverables

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in permitting for wireless, commercial development, urban planning, or land use
  • Bachelor's degree in urban planning, law, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven project management abilities in fast-paced environments
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and database tools
  • Strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills
  • Effective decision-making and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining relationships
  • Available for occasional travel
  • Strong research skills with ability to interpret legal requirements
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Notary public certification preferred or willingness to obtain
