Job Opening: Zoning/Permitting Manager (Remote)

A leading consulting firm in site development is seeking a Zoning/Permitting Manager to join our team remotely. This position plays a crucial role in managing the zoning and permitting process for site development projects across various jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct zoning research and analysis for multiple jurisdictions.

  • Collaborate with internal acquisition and program teams to gather site-specific information and identify zoning challenges.

  • Prepare zoning documentation for site candidate packages.

  • Review and redline zoning and construction drawings to ensure code compliance.

  • Communicate with jurisdictional staff to facilitate permitting processes.

  • Identify required application materials and coordinate submission efforts.

  • Work directly with clients and property owners to complete necessary legal documentation.

  • Submit zoning applications and represent clients in public hearings and meetings.

  • Provide ongoing updates and project status to stakeholders.

  • Track progress using internal systems and client-facing tools.

  • Build strong client relationships through proactive communication.

  • Train and mentor junior staff in zoning and permitting processes.

  • Coordinate with architectural and engineering teams to collect required deliverables.

  • Support broader company initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Strong project management skills in a fast-paced setting

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project databases

  • Collaborative mindset with strong interpersonal skills

  • Effective decision-making and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities

  • Willingness to travel if required

  • Strong research and legal interpretation skills

  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred:

  • 5+ years of experience in zoning/permitting within wireless, commercial development, or land use sectors

  • Degree in urban planning, law, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)

  • Notary public certification in WA/OR preferred (or willingness to obtain)
